A list of the ships launched in 1909 reported the Brazilian C.H. Avila tug of 125 tons built by Jonker&Stans, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht for account of an owner in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.(1)

An item in the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 15 September 1909 reported that she was underway from Antwerp, Belgium towards Buenos Aires, arriving on 12 September at Lisbon, Portugal. An item in the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 18 October 1909 reported her departure Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde from bound for Rio Grande towing the lighter D.F.G. No. 4, The edition dated 7 December reported her arrival on 4 November in Rio Grande. An item in the Dutch newspaper De courant dated 14 October 1909 reported the arrival at Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde on 26 September of the Conselheiro Henrique Avila and their the lighter she towed collided with the French steamship Trignac, causing small damage on both sides.
