Dutch Green whalers sunk by French frigates according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 26 August 1794

An item reported the arrival of the Norwegian captain Berg at Bristol, England. He remarked that he on 26 July was hailed on the Robbenbank by the French frigate le Tartar. Accompanied by 5 other frigates captured and sunk the French 2 Dutch Greenland whalers. Between brackets was remarked probably the ships of the commandeurs J. Oebles and J.J. Ruyg returning from Davis Strait. (1)

1. Both ships returned safely in the Netherlands early September with their catches.
