Turkish naval forces on 1 February 1939 according to German army intelligence

The fleet consisted of 1 old battle cruiser (the Goeben), 2 old light cruisers, 4 destroyers, 2 old gunboats, 3 old torpedo boats and 6 submarines. On stocks 4 submarines and ordered 6 submarines,3 destroyers, guns and mine sweeping/laying equipment. In peace time numbered the personnel 800 officers and 4.000 petty officers and sailors; between brackets should be 1.200 respectively 8.000. There was a naval station at Gölcük in the Gulf of Izmit with a dock for large warships and underground tanks, at Izmir (Smyrna) with docks and shipyard and a larger shipyard in the Golden Horn.
