American whaling ship Hero visited Honolulu, Hawaii according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 24 October1840

An item reported the arrival at Honolulu, Hawaii on 17 October of the American whaling ship Hero captain Joy of Nantucket 38 months out 2.100 barrels oil. She entered the harbour with huge personnel problems. Since 12 September 4 crewmembers died because of scurvy and of the remaining men were just 3 able to perform their duties.
