Dutch Davis Strait commandeur Cornelis Meyns returned homeaccording to the Dutch newspaper Leydse courant dated 10 August 1729

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 8 August reported that off Texel arrived commandeur Cornelis Meyns returning with 6 whales 300 quardelen from Davis Strait. He brought with him a list which made clear that since the previous list 35 whales were caught and none ships lost.(1)

1. Cornelis Meyn, commandeur between 1725-1734, in 1729 for Gerret Best, Zaandijk, Netherlands 6 whales 300 barrels blubber 447 quardelen whale oil. Alphabetische naam-lyst van alle de Groenlandsche en Straat-Davidsche Commandeurs die sedert het jaar 1700 op Groenland en sedert het jaar 1719 op de Straat Davis etc. Gerret van Sant.
