An item reported the arrival at Lahaina, Hawaii on 20 September of the American whale ship Tallmadge master W.H. Hedges of Cold Spring 15 months out 2.700 barrels whale oil 215 barrels sperm oil.(1)

The Whaling Museum&Education Center of Cold Spring Harbour published a short but interesting note dealing with this ship. She was bought after captain William H. Hedges without success tried to buy a whaler at New Bedford, USA for instance the Roman in March 1843. The Cold Spring Whaling Company finally bough the same year the N.P. Tallmadge from the Dutches Whaling Company in Poughkeepsie. Hedges commanded her between 1843-1845.
