Japanese transport (ex-Bernardin de Saint Pierre 1924-1942) Teibi Maru 1942-1943

Laid down by J.C. Tecklenborg AG, Geestemünde, Germany for account of Messageries Maritime, Paris, France in 1924, launched on 2 September 1925, requisitioned by the Japanese government, renamed Teibi Maru and sunk by the American submarine USS Bonefish (SS-2223) on 10 October 1943 off the Cam Ranh Bay, French Indochina. Deadweight 7.200 tons, gross tonnage 10.086 tons, net tonnage 5.616 tons and as dimensions 455.8 x 60.8 x 41.0 x 27.0 (loaded) feet. Call sign as French ship FOAL. Oil fuelled geared steam turbine machinery allowing with one screw and 6.000 ihp a speed of 13-15 lots.
