American whaling ship Alexander visited Lahaina, Hawaii according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 14 April 1849

An item reported the arrival at Lahaina, Hawaii on 31 March by the American whaling ship Alexander captain J. Byon of New Bedford 11 months out 416 barrels sperm oil, on 21 November 1848 died her captain Jos. Black at sea.
