Maltese galleys sent to sea to act against the Barbary States according to the Dutch newspaper Ommelander courant dated 17 June 1788

An item dated Naples 14th May referred to tidings received from Malta reporting that a Barbarian galliot captured near the Sicilian coast a Maltese vessel. A large ship of Genoa however recaptured her. As a result sent the Maltese order her galleys to sea.
