Japanese cargo ship Kotoku Maru 1936-1942

Call sign JJTL. Gross tonnage 6.702 tons, under deck 6.077 tons, net tonnage 4.863 tons and as dimensions 436.4 x 58.5 x 32.8 feet. Built by Mitsubushi Jukogyo, Nagasaki, Japan for Hiroumo Syozi KK, Kobe, Japan. Laid down on 13 October 1936, launched on 30 January 1937, completed on 15 May 1937, Requisitioned by Japanese Imperial Navy on 19 September 1937, became an auxiliary transport, conversion into an auxiliary ammunition ship was ready on 26 September 1937, heavily damaged in an Allied air attack underway towards Buna was she abandoned on 30 July 1942, drifted and run aground near Salamua, New Guinea, stricken from the navy list on 10 June 1943, salvage efforts never completed and after 1945 rolled over.
