Preliminary design American scout cruiser dated April 1915

This design is one of the eleven made, never realized. Displacement 19.500 tons and as dimensions 760 (on waterline) x 77 (on waterline) x 21.6 feet. Block Coefficient .542. Longitudinal coefficient .602. Speed 35 knots at 76.500 ehp. With a speed of 10 knots was the cruising range 12.000 miles. Machinery consisted of turbines and 10 boiler rooms. The armour consisted of a protective deck with a total thickness of 1.5” and a main side belt with an extreme width of 17’6”, depth below the waterline 5’0”and a thickness of 8”. Armament consisted of 2x2-14” breech loading guns, 4-3”aircraft guns and 7-5” quick firing guns. Weight summary in normal condition: Hull complete with fittings 8.952 tons, protection 1.085, steam engineering 4.860, reserve feed 2.3 supply 1.017, battery+ammunition and 2/3 ordnance stores 1.080, equipment and 2/3 equipment stores 585, outfit and 2/3 stores 643 and oil fuel, 2/3 full supply 1.278 tons
