American whaler Rainbow visited Russell, New Zealand according to the New Zealand newspaper Daily Southern Cross dated 2 June 1873

An item reported the arrival at the port of Russell, New Zealand on 13 May of the American whaler Rainbow of 351 tons master Gray returning from whaling 180 barrels of oil.
