Building of single screw seagoing cargo ships for Black Sea service ordered by German authorities in 1943

A report of the Seeschiffahrtsamt S S8 RIA 2400/43 dated 16 August 1943 reported that the (E.D.DS.G.) was ordered to built 8 single screw seagoing cargo ships (SME ships) with a deadweight of 800 tons for service on the Black Sea. For this class were the drawings of the shipyard D.W. Kremer Sohn, Elmshorn, Germany to be used. The parts for 4 of the ships were as much as possible delivered by Kremer, the other 4 were completely by the Danube shipyards.
