An item referred to a a statement of the Thai Consulate at Singapore reporting that Thai aircraft attacked and damaged the French 7.880 tons cruiser Lamotte-Piquet during the battle at sea on 17th and she was forced to retreat at full speed. Thai suffered just little damage.(1)

1. Part of the Duguay-Trouin class light cruisers consisting of the Duguay-Trouin, Lamotte-Picguet and Primauget, succeeded by the Jeanne d’Arc. Laid down at the Arsenal de Lorient, France on 17 January 1923, launched on 21 March 1924, commissioned on 5 March 1927, stationed in the Far East (French Indochina) since 1933, participated in defeating a Thai squadron on 14 January 1941, training hulk in October 1941, disarmed in November 1941 and sunk by American aircraft in the so-called South China Sea Raid in the harbour of Saigon on 12 January 1945. Broken up after the Second World War.
