French naval vessels stationed in the West Indies (Martinique) immobilized according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee Daily summary dated 14 May 1942

An item reported that admiral Robert (1) guaranteed that the French naval vessels stationed in the West Indies (Martinique) were immobilized by removing the fuel to be followed by machinery parts. The French Vichy Goverment seemed to have refused to hand over the tankers and cargo ships at Martinique to the USA.

1. Admiral Georges Robert (Courseulles 31 January 1875-Paris 2 March 1965), High Commissioner for the French West Indies (Antilles and French Guiana) 14 September 1939-14 July 1943.
