An item referred to the German submarine U 23 which reported at 19:05 clock that she would arrive at 07:30 o’clock of the next day off Theodosia.(1)

IIB coastal submarine, building ordered on 2 February 1935, laid down by Germaniawerft, Kiel, Germany with yard number 553 on 11 April 1936, launched on 28 August 1936, commissioned on 24 September 1936, disassembled in 1942, transported via the Danube in parts and reassembled at the Galati Shipyard, Glati, Romania and scuttled on 10 September 1944 of the Turkish coast in the Black Sea to prevent being captured by the Russian forces. On 3 February 2008 was announced that her wreck was discovered on a distance of 3 miles from Agva. Displacement 279 (surfaced)-328 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 27,80 (pressure hull)-42,70 (over all) x 4,00 (pressure hull)-4,08 (over all) x 8,60 (height) x 3,90 (draught) metres or 91.2-140.1 x 13.1-13.5 x 28.3 x 12.10 feet. Crew numbered 25 men. Armed with 1-2cm/0.79” anti aircraft gun and 3-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes. Test depth 80 metres/260 feet.
