Italian torpedo boat Climene 1934-1943

Laid down by Cantieri Navali Riuniti, Ancona, Italy on 25 July 1934. Launched on 7 January 1936. Commissioned on 24 April 1936. Lost on 28 April 1943 off Marettimo by British submarine HMS Unshaken. (1) Stricken on 18 October 1946. Spica-class, sub-class Climene, preceded by Curtatone-class, succeeded by Ariete-class. Displacement 652 (standard)-1.010 (full load) tons and as dimensions 81.40 x 8.20 x 2.38-3.01 metres. Two Tosi turbines and 2 Yarrow type boilers with 19.000 hp, 221 tons fuel bunker capacity and 34 knots speed. Range 1.960 nautical miles/15 knots and 704 nautical miles/30 knots. Crew numbered 99 men. Armament included 4x1-45cm/18” torpedo guns, 3x1-10cm/3.9” 47 cal guns, 4x2-13.2mm/0.5”guns and mines.

1. Of the U-class, preceded by T-class, succeeded by P611-class, laid down by Vickers Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, England on 12 June 1941, launched on 17 February 1942, commissioned on 21 May 1942 and broken up in March 1946.
