Japan captured Russian cargo ship according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee Daily summary dated 13 May 1942

An item reported that on 18 April a Russian 4.761 tons cargo ship was seen off the Tokyo Bay captured by the Japanese underway from Vladivostok to the Tsushima Straits. Soviet authorities were not known with her location at that moment. The J.I.C. supposed that she was captured while Japan suspected her supplying weather information to the USA. At the same time Japanese broadcasting accused the USA of attacking Russian Far East shipping by her submarines.
