German whaler Mozart wrecked according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 4 March 1848

An item reported that the German whaler Mozart master Schelling of Bremen was wrecked on Christmas Island on 7 December 1847. At that time she was loaded with 3.225 barrels whale oil. She was a total wreck and nothing was known if her cargo was saved. The crew of the Maria Helena discovered the wreck and a message that her crew was taken on board of the J.E. Donnell master Hussey.
