An item reported that the Italian warships Varese (1), Amerigo Vespucci (2) and Francesco Ferrucio (3) were expected to depart Leghorn on 15 July for a training voyage with naval cadets.

Of the Guiseppe Garibaldi-class armoured cruisers, presided by Vettor Pisani-class, succeeded by Pisa-class, laid down by Cantiere navale fratelli Orlando, Livorno, Italy on 21 April 1898. launched on 6 August 1899, completed on 5 April 1901, training ship since 1920 and stricken on 4 January 1923.
2. Designer Carlo Vinga. Barque-rigged steel made screw steam corvette, laid down at the Arsenale di Venezia on 9 December 1879, launched on 31 July 1882, completed on 1 September 1884, training ship since 1893 and stricken in December 1928.
3. Of the Guiseppe Garibaldi-class armoured cruisers, presided by Vettor Pisani-class, succeeded by Pisa-class, laid down by Arsenal at Venice, Italy on 19 August 1899, launched on 23 April 1902, completed on 1 September 1905, training ship since 1919 and stricken on 1 April 1930 and broken up.
