An item dated Berlin, Germany 27th referred to a statement of the British Admiralty the evening before that the British corvette Picotee was sunk. The families of the killed or wounded men were informed. The Dutch newspaper Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 28 August added that her commanding officer was lieutenant [R.A.] Harrison of the Royal Naval Reserve (R.N.R.).
