An item referred to a statement of the British Admiralty that the British cruiser HMS Nigeria (1) arrived at Port Stanley, Falkland Islands on Thursday. The British 9.850 tons training cruiser HMS Devonshire (2) left yesterday (26th) Jamaica with unknown destination.

Part of the Crown Colony or Fiji-class light cruisers, preceded by Dido-class, succeeded by Minotaur-class, building ordered on 20 December 1937, laid down by Vickers Armstrong, Walker, Newcastle on Tyne, England on 8 February 1938, launched on 18 July 1939, commissioned on 23 September 1940, sold to India on 29 April 1957, renamed Mysore, decommissioned on 20 August 1985 and broken up.
2. Pennant C39. Of the County-class heavy cruisers London sub-class, preceded by Hawkins-class and succeeded by York-class. Laid down by the Devonport Dockyard on 16 March 1926, launched on 22 October 1927, commissioned on 18 March 1929, reclassified as training ship in 1947 and sold to be broken up on 16 June 1954.
