Italian submarine Marea 1941-1949

Of the Tritone-class or Flutto-class 1st type. Dimensions 63,15 x 6,98 x 4.87 metres or 207’2.2”x 22’10.8”x 15’11.7” and a displacement of 905 (surfaced)-1.070 (submerged) tons. Crew numbered 49 men including 5 officers. Speed 16 (surfaced)-8 (submerged) knots. Range surfaced 5.400 nautical miles/8 knots respectively 2.000/16 and submerged 80 nautical miles/4 knots respectively 7/8. Armament 7-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes (4 for, 2 aft), 1-10cm/4” cal 47 gun on the fore deck before the tower and 2x2-13.2mm/0.52” anti aircraft guns on the tower. Diving depth 130 metres.

Built by CRDA, Montfalcone, Italy. Laid down on 1 December 1941, launched on 10 December 1942, commissioned on 7 May 1943, surrendered to the Allied forces in September 1943, stricken on 1 February 1948 and handed over to the Soviet Union in February 1949.
