An item reported that British forces captured Diego Suarez, [harbour town, since 1975 called Antsiranana), Madagascar. French loses were one submarine, one sloop, 3 fighter planes and more aircraft probably destroyed in the hangars. British lost seven planes, one of her corvettes was damaged by a mine.(1)

1. Diego-Suarez was on 5 May 1942 the start point for the Allied forces capturing Madagascar preventing Japan taking over the island to be used for attacking allied shipping. This was Operation Ironclad.
