Number of Japanese air attacks on Northwestern Australian harbours increasing according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 22 March 1942

An item reported that on 19 March the Australian harbour town Broome was attacked for the second time by Japanese aircraft. The 7 bombers escorted by 3 fighters dropped 50 bombs and fired with their machine guns causing just slightly damage. The J.I.C. commented that Northwestern Australian harbours were more and more attacked by Japanese aircraft. Until now were such attacks followed by enemy landings.
