British Naval Mission to Teheran called back according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 20 for the week ending 20 November 1920

An item reported that commodore Norris (1) and the Naval Mission to Teheran were ordered to come back.(2)

Notes

1. Commodore David Norris (27 Octber 1875-19 July 1937), established the British Caspian Flotilla and head of he naval mission to Persia 1920-1921. In October 1933 he was promoted to the rank of admiral, already retired since October 1929. The British Caspian Flotilla 1918-1920 was to support anti-Bolshevik forces.

2. The 1920 Royal Navy Mission sent to Enzeli was a failure when the members were detained for a half year at Baku, Azerbaijan. She had to assist with the interned White Russian ships (former British armed merchant cruisers?).
