American whaler Julian visited Wellington, New Zealand according to the newspaper Wellington Independent dated Wednesday 4 February 1846

An item reported the arrival on Monday evening of the American whaler Julian master Blackmer from the whaling grounds 18 months out pretty successful calling in for stores and provisions. Blackmer confirmed what Samson of the Brandt said about the very unsuccessful whaling on the north west grounds and that the whalers now would cruise off the south west coast of New Zealand.
