British cruiser HMS Challenger visited the Dutch East Indies in 1907

The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1906-1907 reported that the British cruiser HMS Challenger (1) visited Anjer between 24-25 January 1907. The newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 15 January reported her passing Anjer coming from the west, commanding officer was Bridson. The edition dated 26 January reported her again passing Anjer on 24 January.

1. Part of Challenger-class 2nd class or protected cruisers, preceded by Highflyer-class succeeded by Topaze-class, laid down by HM Dockyard Chatham on 1 December 1900, launched on 27 May 1902, completed in 1904 and broken up in 1920.
