Whaler Herald spoken according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 8 October 1853

An item reported that the ship Montauk spoke on 31 August on latitutude 50.42 North longitude 91 W the whaler Herald master Allen wo supplied the Montauk with 2 casks water. The Herald was 9 months out 60 barrels sperm oil. Her earlier master Rule died on 1 June at Callao, Peru of appoplexy.
