Laid down by Napier&Miller Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland in 1909 and launched in July 1910. Loaded with explosives set on fire in Naha harbour, Okinawa, exploded and burned on 23 february 1944. In the First World War auxiliary transport of the British Royal Navy, chartered by the Japanese Imperial Army as troop transport during the Sino-Japanese War July 1937-1938, requisitioned by the Japanese Imperial Army as troop transport in 1941 and became the IJA No. 244, reurned to owners on 31 May 1943.
Gross tonnage 5,342 tons, under deck 4,712 tons, net tonnage 3,320 tons, deadweight 8,150 tons and as dimensions 405.0 x 52.2 x 28.0 x 8.2 (light)-25 (loaded feet. Reciprocating propulsion supplying via one screw 490 nhp allowing a speed of 9 (cruising)-10.5 (maximum) knots and with a coal bunker capacity of 800 tons a range of 6,000 miles/9 knots.
