Preceded by Meteor-class succeeded by Gazelle-class. Laid down by AG Weser, Bremen, Germany in December 1893, launched on 28 March 1895, commissioned on 3 May 1896 and torpedoed and sunk by the British submarine HMS E9 off Heligoland on 13 September 1914.
