Japanese passenger-cargo ship (ex-Mayebashi Maru 1921-1938) Maebasi Maru 1938-1943

Call sign JAEA. Built by Yokohama Dock Co., Yokohama, Japan with yard number 82 on 5 January 1921, launched on 2 July 1921, completed on 2 August 1921, requisitioned by the army on 6 October 1941, became troop transport No. 722 and sunk by the American submarine USS Pogy (SS-266) 373 miles east south east of Palau on 30 September 1943. Gross tonnage 7,005 tons, under deck 6,450 tons, net tonnage 4,321 tons and dimensions 445.0 x 58.0 x 34.0 x 9 (light)-27 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion. Fitted out for deep tanks for carrying oil in bulk.
