Japanese tuna fishery operating from Dutch West Indies according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated August 1964 No. 8

An item reported that one of the larger Japanese fishing companies signed a contract for six tuna vessels (varying between 99-190 gross tons) to operate from Saint Martin [Sint Maarten], Netherlands Antilles. The base had an export quota of 2,000 tons fresh tuna. In 1963 numbered the Atlantic fleet of this company around 35 tuna vessels handling around 20,000 metric tons tuna of which 90% was exported.
