Russian warships leaving Morocco under way to the Far East according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 13 December 1904

An item dated London, England 8th December reported that the remaining ships of the Russian squadron of admiral Votrovosky departed Tangier, Morocco towards the east.(1) It were the Dnieper (the former Petersburg)(2), two destroyers and some transports.

2. Launched by R&W Hawthorn, Leslie&Co. Ltd., Hebburn yard, England on 7 Feburary 1894 as passenger ship Petersburg with yard number 317 part of the Russian Volunteer Fleet, Odessa, Ukraine, completed in May 1894, added to the Russian Imperial Navy and renamed as an auxiliary cruiser Dniepr, 1905 given back and retained original name, renamed Petrograd in 1914, transferred to the navy, renamed Don and became transport N157 in 1914, cpatured by Germany in 1918, recaptured by England in 1918, handed over to the Russian White Army in 1919, arrived as part of the Wrangel squadron at Bizerta, French Tunisia [nowadays Republic of Tunisia] in 1921 and broken up the same year at Italy.
