Voluntary levy paid for fitting out Icelandic herring research vessel Arni Fridriksson according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated November 1967 No. 11

An item reported that Icelandic owners and fishermen voluntarily paid a levy for the herring research vessel Arni Fridriksson of the Fisheries Research Institute. It was a 136 feet long vessel annex mobile laboratory which could stay at sea for a long period and would research the Atlanto-Scandian herring stocks northeast of Iceland. The movements of the shoals were changing once west as far as the northern Icelandic coast but since 1960 farther and farther east and in 1967 veered north.
