British light cruiser HMS Conquest 1914-1930

Danae-class

Ordered in 1913 under the 1913-1914 Program. Part of C-class light cruisers, Caroline-sub class, preceded by Arethusa-class, succeeded by Danae-class. Consisted of Caroline, Carysfort, Cleopatra, Comus, Conquest and Cordelia. Laid down by Chatham Dockyard on 31 March 1914, launched on 20 January 1915, completed in June 1915 and sold to be broken up on 29 August 1930.

Displacement 4,452 tons. Displacement 4,287 tons. Armament 2x1-15.2cm/6” breech loading guns, 8x1-10.2cm/4” quick firing guns, 1x1-5.7cm/2.2”/6 pd quick firing anti aircraft gun and 2x2-53.3cm/21” torpedo tubes. Armour consisted of a 2,5cm-1”-7.6cm/3” waterline belt, a 2.5cm/1” deck and conning tower protected by 15.24cm/6”. Speed 28.5 knots.
