Original laid down by C. Melchers, Bremen, Germany as training ship on 27 September 1960, launched on 17 December 1960, commissioned in 1961, served aslo at royal yacht and later as oceanographic research ship (AGOR). Displacement 870-997 (full load) tons and as dimensions 61.0 (between perpendiculars)-70.0 x 10.5 x 3.0 metres. Around 2002 crew numbered 68 (included 8 officers) men. 2 Klöckner Humboldt Deutz diesels propulsion, 2 screws, 1,090 bhp horsepower and a range of 10,000 nautical miles/10 knots and an armament of 2x1-4cm 60 cal Bofors Mk 3 anti aircraft guns.
