Part of Schwalbe-class cruisers succeeded by Bussard-class. Laid down by Kaiserliche Werft Wilhelmshaven, Germany in April 1886, launched on 16 August 1887, commissioned on 8 May 1888, after 1914 training ship, since 1918 target ship, stricken on 6 December 1919 and broken up in 1922.
