Japanese naval oil storage at Sasebo on 27 June 1941

The American Naval Attache at Tokyo wrote that the estimates were prepared after considerable research and consulting the British Naval Attache at Tokyo and reasonable correct. If available were past estimates placed in parenthesis. It was furthermore reliable reported that all naval oil tankage was kept filled to capacity meaning that indicated amounts were the very minimum of Japan.

At Sasebo were 6x10,000 tanks each on the west side of the harbour. A further group of tanks was located to the south along the coast. At Akazaki was an underground storage. Estimated total capacity 400,000 tons (250,000).
