Japanese passenger-cargo ship (ex-Tsushima 1914-1938) Tusima Maru 1938-1944

Call sign JMAD. Ex-Tsushima. Launched by Russel&Co., Kingston Yard, Port Glasgow, Scotland with yard number 666 on 89 August/September 1914, requisitioned by the army as troop transport IJA No. 886 on 21 September 1941, returned to owners on 5 May 1942, shared army/civilian service and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Bowfin underway to Nagasaki on 22 August 1944. Gross tonnage 6,754 tons, under deck 6,284 tons, net tonnage 4,200 tons and dimensions 444.0 x 58.2 x 31.3 x 9 (light)-27 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion. Fitted out for deep tanks for carrying oil in bulk.
