Japanese cargo ship (ex-Moji Maru 1922-1938) Mozi Maru 1938-1944

Call sign JIRA. Laid down by Yokohama Dock. Co., Yokohama, Japan on 30 January 1922, launched on 15 August 1922, completed on 15 September 1922, requisitioned by the army as Alloted Army No. 646 on 30 July 1938, returned to owners on 19 January 1939, requisitioned by the army on 8 July 1941, returnd to owners on 4 September 1941, requisitioned by the army and armed with 12.7cm/5” guns on 30 September 1941 and sunk during an air attack on 12 June 1944. Gross tonnage 3,831 tons, under deck 3,397 tons, net tonnage 2,297 tons and as dimensions x 345.0 x 50.0 x 29.0 x 9 (light)-24 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 342 nhp/3,021 ihp, 1,200 tons coal bunker capacity, range around 12,000 nautical miles/11 knots and speed 11 (normal cruising)-14 (maximum) knots.
