The Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië referred to her departure from San Pedro loaded with war stores valued 2 million US dollars bound for Wladiwostok. It included 500 ton of kopper and 200 ton of molybdenum. The copper was taken over at San Pedro from a USA-flagged ship. The Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 29 March 1940 pubished an item dated London, 27 March reported that she was halted at Hong Kong accused of having contrabande on board. She was loaded with copper and molybdenum loaded in North American harbours destined for Wladivostok. Newspapers referred to a possible relation between Germany and Russia dealing with transporting of various metals.
