American merchant ship ss Vincent considered to be lost according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 23 December 1941

An item reported that the USA-flagged merchant ship ss Vincent underway to Panama last heard from her on 12 December reporting that she was stopped by an unknown ship followed by a SOS was considered to be lost while she was so long overdue.(1)

Completed by Federal Shipbuilding&Drydock Co., Kearny, Illinois, USA for the US Shipping Board with yard number 22 in September 1919, owner US Maritime Commission since 1936, shelled and torpedoed on 12 December 1941 east of  Pitcairn Island by the Japanese auxiliary cruisers Aikoku Maru and Hokoku Maru.
