Japanese cargo ship (ex-Poldhu 1902-1919, Stromness 1919, Bravore 1919-1922) Sakae Maru 1922-1944

Similar Nissei Maru, Kiyo Maru, Nissin Maru No. 3 and Sakae Maru. Call sign JHLA. Built by J. Blumer&Co., Sunderland, England in January 1902, as Bravore Norwegian property and sunk by American submarine USS Bang in the Strait of Formosa on 23 November 1944. Gross tonnage 2,876 tons, under deck 1,870 tons, netto tonnage 1,460 tons, deadweight 4,650 tons and as dimensions 319.7 x 46.1 x 21.0 x 7.2 (light)-20.8 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, horsepower 249 nhp, coal bunker capacity 665 tons, range nautical 6,500 miles/8 knots and speed 8 (normal cruising)-10 (maximum) knots.
