An item referred to captain J.D. Willard of the Lagoda lying at Hilo who wrote a report dealing with the Margarita Bay on 28 January wrote that the ships in the weather bay did not do much and had considerable problems with their crews. The Benjamin Morgan, Thomas Dickason, Columbus and the barque Vigilant lost each a boat and crewmembers which deserted.
