Launched by Reiherstieg Schiffswerfte&Maschinenfabrik, Hamburg, Germany with yard number 408 as a cargo-passenger ship for the HAPAG on 21 December 1901 completed on 19 April 1902, arrived at New York, USA on 5 August 1914, seized by the USA on 6 April 1917, shortly afterwards renamed Otsego, converted into a troop transport, became the USS Otsego on 17 February 1919, reconverted into a cargo ship, sold in 1924 to Libby, McNeill&Libby, chartered by the army as USAT Otsego on 4 December 1941, refitted as army troop transport between April-July 1942, handed over to the USSR under Lend-Lease and renamed Ural in January 1945 and hulked or broken up in 1955. Gross tonnage 4,638 tons, under deck 3,609 tons, net tonnage 2,595 tons and as dimensions 370.9 x 45.3 x 26.7 x (23-24 (loaded) feet. Normal cruising speed 9 knots. Warning closely similar to the Japanese Yoshino Maru and Kowa Maru. As Otsego in 1939 call sign WQCJ, homeport San Francisco, USA, owners Libby, Mc.Neill&Libby.
