An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 5 September reported that the Davis Strait whaling in 1749 had been very profitable. The 41 Dutch whalers caught together 205 whales and 8.704 quardelen, one merchant full loaded with blubber and 4 ships from Hamburg, Germany 15.5 whale 650 quardelen blubber.
