Enemy submarines especially active in Cape Sable-Cape Race area according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 22 January 1942

An item reported that the main enemy submarine activities seemed to be in the Cape Sable-Cape Race area here the day before three ships were attacked with torpedoes. In the last two days were no submarine attack in the American coastwise shipping lanes reported. It was just a small number of enemy submarines active in those waters, pesumably 2-3.
