Part of Umikaze-classs consisting of the Umikaze and Yamakaze, leaning heavily on British designs especially of the Tribal-class preceded by Kamikaze-class succeeded by Sakura-class. Laid down by Maizuru Naval Arsenal, Maizuru, Kyoto, Japan on 23 November 1909, launched on 10 October 1910, commissioned on 28 September 1911, converted into the minesweeper W-7 in June 1930 and sold to be broken up on 1 April 1936.
