Japanese convoy in the Straits of Makassar sighted according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 24 January 1942

An item reported that on 23 January a Japanese convoy in the Straits of Makassar around 100 miles north east of Balikpapan, Dutch East Indies was sighted. It counted 31 warships and transports. Dutch bombers claimed scoring 4 respectively 8 direct hits on warships respectively transports.
